CHINA'S LOCATION AND EXTENSION

China is a large and important country located in the East part of Asia Continent, where the world's largest population (141 crore) resides. China is a Communist Republic. Before 1949, China was a Nationalist Republic headed by President Chiang Kai-shek. Area of China is 95,96,961 square kilometers. It is almost equal to the whole of Europe (10.1 million square kilometers) in area.

LOCATION AND EXTENSION
Located in the eastern part of Asia, China extends from 18° North Latitude to 54° North Latitude and 73° East Longitude to 135° East Longitude. Thus, the Latitudinal expansion is in 36 latitudes and the Longitudinal expansion is in 62° longitude. Its North to South length is 5,500 km and East to West width is 5,000 km.

China shares land borders with 14 countries, which is the maximum tied with Russia. The neighboring countries of China are Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Vietnam. China has 22 provinces (states), 5 autonomous regions (Guangxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Tibet and Xinjiang), 4 municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing) and 2 special administrative regions (Macau and Hong Kong).
The Pacific Ocean is located in the east of China. The East China Sea is located in the northern part of the Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea is located in the southern part. South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines are separated from China by sea borders.
